Fighting but Frustrating fourth for Gino at Misano

CIA LANDLORDS INSURANCE HONDA’S Gino Rea fought hard to take a superb fourth place at the eighth round of the World Supersport Championship at Misano in Italy.
Gino said: “It was a bit of a disappointing race. Fourth position is OK and better than where I qualified but we were expecting to take it to the top three. We made a change from yesterday to help the front and it was good in warm up but then in the hotter conditions of the race I had a few moments.
“I was passed by three riders after I had a moment on lap 2 and once I got past them again the gap to the leaders was too much. I pushed hard and almost crashed a few times, so I decided to hold off the guys behind. Fourth is OK, but we really want to battle with the top three which is where I think we can be and we’ll keep working on that.”
CIA Landlords Insurance Honda Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “Gino struggled in the race losing the front. We had made a change in warm up that didn’t quite work in the race. He couldn’t stay with the leaders and managed the situation well. Kenan’s crash meant he ended fourth which is a good result. The gap in the calendar will allow his foot injury to heal further and we go into the last part of season in confident mood."
