Fabulous fourth for Gino in Portugal

CIA LANDLORDS INSURANCE HONDA’S Gino Rea took a fantastic fourth at the seventh round of the World Supersport Championship at Parkalgar in Portugal, less than a second from the final podium place.

Gino said: “I enjoyed that race! I was able to push hard and had plenty of confidence in my CIA Landlords Insurance Honda - it was great to be closing in on the podium in the last laps and it shows our potential. Unfortunately I spent too much time behind Kyle Smith and the gap to PJ in third was a littlle too much to close down in a short amount of time. It was good to have consistant pace throughout the whole race but a little frustrating to know I missed the podium by 0.7 seconds. We opted for the normal rear tyre here and the other Honda's used the new bigger tyre - I think ours was more consistant but maybe they had a little more grip for the first half of the race.

"It's good to regain confidence in my bike so I owe thanks to the guys on my side of the garage for believing in me. I think this was my best race performance since the podium in Phillip Island as I finished just 8 seconds from the winner and 2 of those seconds were lost on the opening lap. We will start from this position at Misano and see if we can get back on the box.”
