Assen a weekend to forget for Gino and PTR Honda Team

CIA LANDLORDS INSURANCE HONDA’S Gino Rea had a frustrating weekend at Assen, finishing the race in 14th after a techincal problem during the race.

After being ran off- track on the second lap, Gino fought his way back into the top 10 only to suffer from a techincal problem with the bike, leaving Gino no option but to nurse the bike home in 14th with just 2 points.

Gino said: “We've have a difficult weekend here. Things never really clicked and we wasted track time on Friday trying to find a better set up. My foot is still broken so we tried to compensate for that a little on Friday but it didn't really work. On Saturday we were

already a -day behind so we were kind of on the back foot. I qualified in 10th which is our lowest this year but we made some changes for Sundays warm up that we thought would help for the race. They helped resotre my confidence in the front end of the bike a bit and I was confident I could be top 5 in the race. Unfortuntely I got bumped into on the 2nd lap and I ran slightly off track which let a big group of riders through. From then on I just tried to get through that group but then my bike ran into some tenchincal difficulties and it was struggling to rev down the straights. There wasn't much I could do from then onwards and like in Thailand, I was lucky to finish the race at all. We salvaged 2 points and I am still 6th in the Championship and not far from 3rd, so we have to keep our heads down and make sure we don't have another repeat of this weekend.”

The fifth round of the World Supersport Championship is at Imola in Italy on 10th May.
