Battered Rea takes seventh at Magny-Cours after mid-race spill

The battered and bruised Londoner showed his grit and determiantion once again by taking 7th at Magny-Cours after a small tipp off during the World Supersport race. 

Rea had been in the battle for the podium before the red flag and then whilst battling for fourth in the re-started race, Gino was pushed wide on to oil at the Adelaide hairpin.

Rea lost the front and slid off but quickly remounted to catch and pass his team mate Cardenas for 7th. 

After Fridays brutal crash during FP1, Rea was lucky to have no serious injuries, and just riding the bike on Sunday took extreme courage. Check out Gino's crash (on the right) that has been viewed 2,851,573 times!

Gino commented: “It's been a tough and challenging weekend. After the big crash on Friday I didn't know if I'd even be able to race on Sunday. The wet qualifying helped and I was able to put it on the second row which was good for the race.

At the start of the first race I had a wet front and intermediate rear. I was coming on strong in the battle for third and a podium finish was there. On the restart I used an intermediate front and dry rear tyre. In hindsight I probably should have gone dry/dry. As I got confidence in the front I was looking to overtake Smith, but I was pushed wide by Zanetti on to the oil at Adelaide and lost the front. I managed to get the bike up and passed Martin for seventh. We’ll go to Qatar looking for a strong finish to the year.”
