Le Mans, France – AGT Rea Racing Team Finish 19th in the Moto2 Monster Energy Grand Prix de France
Signs of progress where shown all weekend for the AGT REA Racing team at the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France. Gino Rea qualified just 1.2 seconds from pole position in 23rd and closed that gap to 1.1 seconds during Sunday mornings warm up. Rea then went on to a season best of 19th in the race. The Londoner was in the battle for the top 15 points positions until a small mistake left him off the circuit, leaving Rea to battle for 19th with Gresini’s Baldassarri and Mapfre Aspar’s Terol, with Gino coming out on top to score AGT REA Racing’s best result of 2014
Gino Rea (19th)
“It’s been our best weekend so far here at Le Mans, we’ve improved the bike a lot to help with my feeling on the bike and my confidence has started to increase. We improved a lot going into Qualifying but I wasn’t able to make the most of the bike and I ended up a bit further back than we were capable of. We made a further change going into the race and although I struggled in some areas I was still able to stay in the group with Cortese and Nakagami until I ran wide and lost the contact with them. Towards the end I got into a battle with the Gresini and Aspar riders and managed to come out in front which was nice. I’m a bit annoyed that I ran wide mid race though because I think I could have stayed with the group and been in the battle for top 15, which I would have been happier with. But overall, we’ve improved a lot as a team and I’m feeling better after this weekend than the previous races. I hope we can continue this progress at Mugello, I really want to score points for our new team and I believe that with our hard work and determination we can get there.”
The next race will take place on June 1 in Mugello, Italy. For more information about Gino Rea and AGT Rea Racing, log onto www.agtrearacing.com and www.facebook.com/agtrearacing
