Gino Top Honda Supersport Rider at Donington Round Despite Crash

Gino Rea (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda) was the top Honda finisher in the 20-lap FIM Supersport World Championship race at Donington Park, taking eighth place at his home round despite falling on the final corner and losing one position.
Rea had opted for a hard rear tyre and had to wait for its best performance to kick in, allowing him to battle with other riders toward the end of the race. In defending his line into the final left-hander at Goddards Hairpin he slid off but remounted to take points and go fifth in the championship table. He is the top ranked CBR600RR rider at the halfway point of the season.
CIA LANDLORDS INSURANCE HONDA scored a full house with all four riders in the points at its home UK round of the World Supersport Championship at Donington Park.
First home in eighth, Gino said: “I am frustrated to have crashed at the last corner but I only lost one place. I went in defensive and lost the front. I feel I had the pace to go with the group in front but a gap opened early on when I strugggled to pass the Triumphs. It was good to finish top Honda even with a crash but we need to improve to close the gap to the Kawasaki's and MV's. I went faster in the race than M. VD Mark did last year and he won, so our pace wasn't bad. It’s been good racing at home in the UK, thank you to all the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda fans for all the support this weekend.”
The next round of the Championship is at Portimao in Portugal on June 7th.
